Lighthouse Pt. I

This series is based on a coastal town idea I’ve had in my head for a long time. I wanted to capture the mood and feeling of an area of Ireland (the SW coastal region near Dingle) that I have visited multiple times and is one of my favorite spots in the world.

Including a photo from one of those trips that I essentially used as the thumbnail sketch for this image. Also including some process stuff, sketches, 3d sculpts etc.

It had been about a week since they left New Teras, but that felt like the blink of an eye compared to the crucible that getting there had been. The journey back had gone markedly smoother, they caught the trans continental line from the NT station and made it all the way across the Waste without incident.

The last few days they ‘d spent meandering north towards Archport, Echo’s hometown and where they intended to reunite with R.o.b. Echo had split off a day or so back, eager to see her parents and to find her robotic friend. Sec, Dica, and Lox had decided to take the slower, more scenic route as none of them had ever been to this region before and they wanted to soak in the countryside as much as they could.

The lighthouse had come into view that morning, and eventually the thatch roofs and chimney smoke of the surrounding village also appeared before them. Sec had a broken memory of this place from the ancient days, the town hadn’t existed then, but she remembered Samson building the “lighthouse”, it was a prototype for a planned series of communication towers all along the coast. They’d eventually scrapped the grander idea but decided to keep the initial tower intact. It became a place they would retreat to when they needed a moment to breathe and collect themselves.

And Sec could feel it from here, there was a black box in that tower.
